INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION GROUP
The Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG) is an association of arbitration lawyers, sponsored by the LCIA to exchange views on, and to debate, topical issues in international commercial arbitration. Membership of the group is open to arbitration practitioners aged 40 and under. The group holds three symposia a year at venues throughout the world, providing opportunities for debate, discussion and networking. Symposia have been held in London, Paris, New York, Dusseldorf, Barcelona, Hong Kong, The Hague, Vienna, Miami, Brussels, Hampshire (England), Sydney, Geneva and Singapore. Membership of YIAG is free of charge and YIAG continues to attract new members at a steady pace. There are now over 1,900 members from more than 80 countries including: Australia, Bulgaria, Cameroon, China, Ecuador, Egypt, Ghana, India, Jordan, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia and Singapore. The Group is co-chaired by Kate Davies, Amir Ghaffari, Andy Moody and Marie Stoyanov.
Kate is a Senior Associate in WilmerHale's International Arbitration Practice Group. Her practice includes representation in both private and public international law disputes cited in both common and civil law jurisdictions under all of the major arbitration rules. Her private international law work covers arbitrations in a wide range of industries (energy, oil and gas, construction, telecommunications, insurance), while her public international law work includes representation in investment treaty and boundary disputes.
Andy is an English solicitor with dual American and British nationality. He is a Senior Associate in McDermott Will & Emery's International Disputes Group and has been involved in a large number of international disputes including both investment treaty and commercial arbitrations. His experience includes both ad hoc and administered international arbitrations, ones governed by various procedural and substantive laws, and he has advised on arbitrations subject to the LCIA, ICSID, ICC and UNCITRAL rules.
